Oda from the sea

Oda fra Havet is a musical theater about the life of the island girl Oda Markusen from Mausundvær. Her biggest dream in life is to become a fisherman like her father, but as a young girl in the 60s, this was not very easy. She faces a lot of opposition from the local community, in addition to being hit by other big challenges that life can have to offer. Despite it all, this girl never gives up and continues to fight for her fishing dream and the life she has always wanted.

Music and screenplay are by Marte Hallem, where the screenplay is based on the trilogy “Folket i Spåhålet” by Mausund author Vidar Oskarson.

The performance was supposed to be performed in both 2020 and 2021, but has been postponed to the weekend of July 1-3, 2022 due to the pandemic.

In 2022 you will meet Mari Haugen Smistad in the role of Oda, and Evy Kasseth Røsten in the role of her mother. Marte Heie Hallem on direction and screenplay, Arnstein Langåssve in the role of Hagbart Porkvika.
